This is the famous photograph of her taken during her time in police custody. What does the expression suggest to you? How do you think the public and media would have responded to such an image when put together with a consderation of her crimes?
This 1997 painting by Marcus Harvey took the iconic image of Hindley and reproduced it with children's hand prints. What is your opinion of this piece of art?

The first image is not as bad as the second to be honest.
Although the first one does strike you, i automatically do connect the picture straight to thoughts of evilness.
She looks like she has no remorse, no regret for what she has done.
As for the art work, I find it disturbing!
It's provoking, it's thoughtless (i don't think the artist thought about the parents of the victims) and i don't see why you'd want to do a picture of evil out of something so innocent (the childrens hands)
it's just not right!

In the first picture, the expression on her face shows no remorse, and knowin what she had done, it makes you hate her, and wonder what could be going in underneath that unreadable expression in her eyes.
The second, is very interesting, the childrens hand prints to contruct a picture of her face almost makes it too direct of what Hindley had done, as her face can turn something as inccocent as a childs handprint into her evil face.
The first picture is able to strongly express the feeling of hatred we should feel towards Hindley. She looks so emotionless and careless about what she has done.
I think the second picture is completely disgusting and a thoughtless way of designing a piece of artwork. It is really inconsiderate of the victim’s parents!
